Easy and enjoyable!

Does your Catholic school support gay rights?

Recent news about Mississauga's, St.Joseph Catholic Secondary School banning rainbows at an anti-homophobia event, which was hosted by the students and generally not allowing any official LGBT groups at its' school, has frankly made me angry!  If a publicly-funded institution discriminates against federally protected human rights, the said institution should no longer be publicly funded!

If you are a home-owner and paying property taxes, please choose to support public schools in your area over Catholic schools! By publicly funding these religious organizations, we empower them to discriminate against our children!

How would you feel if your Catholic school discriminated against its' gay/lesbian students? Would you do anything about it?

Collecting digital cameras for the Redwood Women's Shelter

Hi Everyone!
Our Mom2Mom Sale on Saturday, May 28th went really well, thanks to Mary, the owner of the Wise Daughters Craft Market, who is also a member & financial sponsor of Junction Parents for donating the space, we have raised $475! The Redwood Women's Shelter says THANK YOU!
When I went to drop off the cash, they asked me if I would know of anyone getting rid of their digital camera, they'd love to take it off their hands and use it for a program they'd like to run for the women and children living at the shelter, so of'course, I'd love to collect a few, they need at least 6 :)
If you have a digital camera you'd like to donate, please make sure it's in working order, has a recharger, regular batteries not nesessary, I can buy extra batteries (you can donate cash to buy batteries) and if available, a clean memory card if applies.
Thanks so much in advance, please contact me privately :)

Tweet for a Great Cause!

To those tweeters and texters out there, here is a great cause in support of Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada, who is holding a Tweet-A-Thon from June 6 -13 to kick off the Text “SMILE” fundraising campaign.

Starting June 6, Canadians can simply text the word “SMILE” on their cell phone to 20222 to donate $5 to Starlight. All proceeds raised will be used to fund Starlight programs, which bring smiles to seriously ill children and their families.

“Through the Tweet-A-Thon, we’re hoping to introduce more Canadians to the magic of Starlight and provide fellow tweeters with compelling reasons to Text “SMILE" and donate,” says Trevor Dicaire, Director of Development, Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada.

Dicaire adds: “In January we asked Starlight children, families, volunteers and friends to share what Starlight means to them. We’ll be sharing their amazing responses through our Twitter account @starlightupdate during the Tweet-A-Thon. We hope they will inspire Canadians to Text “SMILE” and donate.”

Participate:
•You can participate in the Starlight Tweet-A-Thon by sharing your Starlight stories and reasons to Text “SMILE”, followed by the hashtag: #TextSmile.

•Another simple way to lend support: Re-Tweeting (RT) @starlightupdate tweets during the Tweet-A-Thon from June 6-13.

•Text the word “SMILE” on your cell phone to 20222 to donate $5 to Starlight.

About Starlight Children’s Foundation Canada:
For more than 20 years Starlight Children’s Foundation has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses and life-altering injuries.

Through a broad array of in-patient, out-patient and online resources, Starlight works hard to support seriously ill children and their families from diagnosis through the entire course of medical treatment and beyond. Whether it’s a trip to the zoo, a toy-filled playroom or an exciting sporting event, Starlight’s mission is to bring fun, joy and giggles right where they are needed the most!
