Melissa & Doug toy recall!

From Globe & Mail: On Friday, Health Canada announced a recall of more than 26,000 Melissa & Doug wooden Slice and Bake Cookie Sets, Shape Sorting Cubes and Pound-a-Peg toys after testing found excessive barium in the surface paint. Retailers such as Indigo Books & Music Inc. have pulled the products from store shelves, and consumers are advised to return items for a refund or exchange. The toys were made in China.

Exposure to barium can cause nausea and vomiting, as well as more serious health problems, including high blood pressure and abnormal heart rhythm. Full story HERE

Are you affected by the Crib Recall?

U.S. and Canadian government safety regulators are recalling more than 2.1 million drop-side cribs made by B.C.-based Stork Craft Manufacturing

It's the the biggest crib recall in U.S. history. The joint recall by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada involves 1.2 million cribs in the United States and more than 968,800 in Canada made between January 1993 and October 2009. Nearly 150,000 of the recalled cribs carry the Fisher-Price logo and were made between October 1997 and December 2004.

Project Warmth Initiative

Message from Alison:

Hi Everyone,

We're just days away now from our final drop off date of Saturday November 21st. I'm sure many of you are scrambling to get your donations together…nudge, nudge

Thanks to everyone who has managed to deliver your items already. My deck is ready and open for drop offs anytime 673 Willard avenue M6S 3S6 at the rear.

I've checked in with the church and we're good to go, the June Callwood Centre is anticipating our delivery and we have a couple of new recipients this year. One is the Stop Community Food Centre Healthy Beginnings program and the other is Christmas stockings for the homeless a small group who prepare and distribute stockings on Christmas Eve to the many homeless youth.

In light of that there are a few additional items we are looking for: Hats, mitts, scarves, socks, rain gear, hand warmers, and hygiene products for adults.

And always we seem to be strapped for Products for mums!

Here are some suggestions: personal hygiene items like shampoo, bubble bath, bath salts, nail polish the same little something special that you might like.

We’ve tried MAC, OPI with no luck. I’m open to suggestions if anyone knows a sales rep for L’oreal, as an example or any other product that might be suitable.

Thanks again to all of you for your many small trys that have lead to folks finding, supporting and joining with us and trying to make it happen again for another year!

Warm hugs,

Alison
