Stroller Theft in the JUNCTION

I have seen countless posts on Kijiji.ca and Craigslist.com regarding stroller theft in our neighbourhood over the years. People leave their strollers in front of stores, coffee shops, on their porches..etc why not buy a U-LOCK? I never leave home without it, yes, some u-locks can be broken but the sight of one attached to your stroller is guaranteed to stop a thief, the stroller is no longer an easy target and is too much trouble to fumble with.

Here is a related article in http://www.torontoist.com/

The Toronto Police Service issued a press release this afternoon alerting the public to "increased theft of baby strollers," to the tune of six incidents in the past ten months, in the vicinity of 11 Divison, located near the intersection of Dundas and Keele streets. Apparently, these dastardly stroller thieves have been fencing their haul online. Constable Wendy Drummond writes, in the release [PDF], that police have already arrested and charged a man and a woman, who were caught hawking purloined prams on the web.

SAVE THE LOCAL POST OFFICE from CLOSING! 2938 Dundas St W

Ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of traffic lights, Oct 14th ‘09 at 8:30am at the corner of Dundas St W & High Park Ave

Text submitted by Junctioneer

The new traffic lights are working now at Dundas St W and High Park Ave and people have been using them to cross Dundas St West to shop at retail stores on the north and south sides of Dundas St West with much greater ease.

Before the traffic lights were installed - to cross safely people had to cross at Pacific Ave. or Clendenan Avenue Ave., 1 block to the east and two blocks to the west.

Why should you come to the ceremony? The lights are a new important element to the street scape and usability of the Junction retail strip.

The Junction Mom to Mom Sale on SNAP!

Text by SNAP

Mom-to-Mom Rummage Sale

Residents of the Junction came out in full force for the first-ever mom-to-mom rummage sale on September 19th. Initiated by the Junction Parents Group (junctionparents.ca), the idea was for local moms to both buy and sell gently-used items for babies and kids. Junction-based businesses were also invited to participate by selling locally-made products. The skies were blue and the temperature was perfect as hundreds from the neighbourhood came to check out the great deals on second-hand clothing, toys, games, furniture, baby gear and more. Kudos to Irina Yu for embracing the community spirit and supporting our local products and services.
